Minnesota’s Electric Cooperatives

MREA is comprised of three types of members:

  1. Electric Distribution Cooperative Member: An electric cooperative purchases wholesale power (usually from a generation & transmission cooperative) and delivers it to member-owners.
  2. Generation and Transmission (G&T) Cooperative Member: A cooperative that generates electricity and transmits it to distribution cooperatives.
  3. Vendor Member: A business that provides products or services to an electric cooperative.
