Spicer, MN – Kandiyohi Power Cooperative (KPC) announced that its board of directors appointed Sonja Bogart as Chief Executive Officer. Bogart joined KPC on April 27th.
KPC Board Chair Dale Anderson said, “We are fortunate to have someone of Sonja Bogart’s caliber and experience step into this position to lead KPC. KPC is at a place where we need renewed leadership to successfully implement our strategy and take advantage of the market opportunities ahead. Our board of directors is confident that Ms. Bogart is the right person to pilot us in that direction.” Bogart earned her Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of Oregon and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. She has 25 years of experience in the energy industry including, VP of Customer Service, Sales, and Marketing at Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association, developing and launching many product and service offerings for members. Most recently Bogart served as the Chief Operating Officer at Umatilla Electric Cooperative in eastern Oregon, in which, she was responsible for oversight of day-to-day operations, strategic initiatives, and renewable interconnection and transmission project coordination, as well as a key account rep for a large industrial customer.
Bogart previously lived in Minnesota for 24 years and is excited to be back, making her home in KPC’s service territory. Bogart is elated that she will be closer to her children, Matthew, a lineman for Wright-Hennepin and Allison, a nurse at the University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. She will be welcoming her first grandchild in mid-May with the likelihood of spoiling him or her as grandmas often do.
Ms. Bogart is delighted to have the opportunity to join an excellent organization with a strong commitment to their members and to their surrounding communities. She is eager to work with the board of directors, and employees in continuing those commitments, meeting KPC members and getting to know other local community leaders.
