January 9, 2019 (Aitkin, Minn.) — The Mille Lacs Energy Board of Directors is pleased to introduce the cooperative’s new general manager, Sarah Cron.

Sarah replaces Brian Zelenak, who left Mille Lacs Energy Cooperative in mid-November. Sarah comes to us from Two Harbors, Minn. where she was the marketing manager at Cooperative Light & Power for over 18 years. Sarah and her husband love the outdoors and are excited to explore the Aitkin area. According to Board President Harold Harms, “Sarah brings 19 years of cooperative senior management and sales/marketing experience to us. Sarah is active in the community and the cooperative community as well, having been on the board or committees for Great River Energy, MREA, Touchstone Energy, Leadership Duluth and more. The board believes the skills, experience, and energy Sarah brings will be crucial as we look at expanding services in an ever-changing industry to continue to be our members’ trusted energy expert.”

While acting as the marketing manager at Cooperative Light & Power Sarah has managed all facets of the marketing department, and routinely managed projects within operations, member services, IT/broadband, and finance.

Sarah will begin her role as general manager at the end of January. She is looking forward to immersing herself in the community and working with the MLEC staff. Sarah comments, “I am excited to enhance my career by relying on my project and strategy strengths while focusing on the visionary and collaboration element that is critical to the success of any organization. These are skills that I am committed to bringing to Mille Lacs Energy Cooperative.”

MLEC is a not-for-profit, electric distribution cooperative owned by the members we serve.  They provide service to over 13,000 members in parts of Aitkin, Crow Wing, and Mille Lacs counties.
