Rockford, MN (April 28, 2020)—Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association (WH) was recently recognized as a winner in the national 2020 Spotlight on Excellence Awards program, which is sponsored by the Certified Cooperative Communicator Program and the Council of Rural Electric Communicators.WH received the gold award in its class in the “best external news publication” category for its Hotline Update, a printed newsletter sent to members. The December 2018, February 2019 and June 2019 Hotline Update issues were submitted for judging. The Hotline Update is written and designed by WH’s marketing team and printed at Bolger Inc., a print and digital technology company located in Minnesota. “We are honored to be recognized for this award,” said Andrea Unger, WH’s marketing and member service director. “Our team puts a lot of time and effort into these publications, so our members are provided with interesting and relevant content about what is happening at their co-op. Co-ops around the nation submitted their hard work to this program and to have won this award is such an honor.”

The annual Spotlight on Excellence Awards program recognizes the best work produced by communication and marketing professionals at electric cooperatives across the country. Entrants compete against similar-sized electric cooperatives in 16 categories. Nearly 670 entries were submitted by these professionals for the 2020 Spotlight on Excellence program.

Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association is a member-owned, not-for-profit electric utility that provides power to rural Wright County and western Hennepin County. The cooperative has been a corporate citizen to the area since 1937 and currently serves more than 50,000 electric accounts. It is headquartered in Rockford, Minn.
